Join us this Saturday for our annual Cookie Sale and Chili Lunch. This event is a part of the annual Christmas Marketplace which include three other participating churches. Be sure to check out the things happening at the Evangelical Free Church (craft show) , Our Redeemer Lutheran (bake sale), and the Immacualte Conception Catholic Church (breakfast).
Our church is implementing a new way to fund our giving to world missions called Faith Promise. Faith Promise has been used for decades by various churches and denominations with great success. Here’s a brief rundown of how it works:
What is Faith Promise
Faith Promise is a promise to give a certain amount – over and above your regular giving – to support the work of world evangelism through our church. You trust God by faith to provide what he would direct you to give, and you have faith that he will supply for other needs which arise as you proceed in giving what you promised.
How the Faith Promise Plan Is Carried Out
At the end of our Mission Emphasis month each October you will be asked to indicate, on a special card provided, what amount you will give weekly or monthly for the next year.
The money given through Faith Promise Missions will be used by the Mission and Outreach Team to support our church’s missionaries and other special missions projects. The Faith Promise Missions money can be placed in the offering plate during any service of the church. It must be marked “Faith Promise Missions.”
What it is not
1. It is not a pledge! You sign nothing. No one but God knows what you promised.
2. It is not something that someone will call on you to collect.
3. It is not to be taken away from your tithes & offerings.
Start praying now about what God would – by faith – have you give to support our mission efforts to reach people all around the world with the Good News about Jesus!
Our Mission and Outreach Ministry Team and church elders have voted to officially support Randy and Wanda Potratz both financially and in prayer as they prepare for a return to the mission field in Niger. Randy and Wanda shared with us this past spring and they will be with us again on October 25 as part of our Mission Emphasis Month. We will be able to hear from them personally in more detail about their ministry and all of the preparation they are doing prior to returning to Niger.
About Their Ministry In Their Own Words:
“Our vision is to share the love of Jesus with Nigeriens and the mission community, through literacy, discipleship, and technical services. We desire to return to the field with SIM in the fall of 2016, first with language school in Quebec and then on to Niger. Until then we are building our support team, being trained, and ministering to those we come in contact with here. We stand ready to return earlier to the field if the Lord so provides. We seek to return to where we know we have ample ministry opportunities that fit what how Lord has gifted us. We have a heart for the people and country of Niger, that we feel the Lord has given us, so that we may serve more effectively in that country.”
Timeline for Return to Niger
- Summer 2016 – Take the how-to-learn-a-language course
- Fall 2016 – French language school in Quebec City in Canada. Language School is a full school year.
- Summer 2017 – Depart for Niger, West Africa. We intend to minister in Niger, except for short trips home, until Fall of 2020. At that point we would, Lord-willing, consider another four years of service.
